Use Instructions

Help! I’m feeling terrible and need help immediately.

Emergencies are best handled by allopathic (Western or modern) physicians or emergency rooms because they are better equipped to handle life-threatening situations. Natural health is best at addressing chronic or more system-wide complaints.

How long before or after eating should I take my capsule or infusion?

Please see specific use instructions. We suggest eating before using our products to make them more bioavailable, unless otherwise directed.

Can I take more than the suggested serving size?

We do not advise exceeding the specific instructions.

Can I use your products everyday?

This varies by product. See the individual product label and specific use instructions and cautions. Most products can be taken for 7 - 10 days without interfering with any other supplements or medications you are taking.  You can expect to see results within 3 - 4 days, if not sooner.

How should I store my Herbal Solutions products?

Our products are self-preserving and do not need to be refrigerated. They can be stored at room temperature, even during hot summer months. Store them out of direct light and away from direct sources of heat like your oven and stove. Tea formulations can be stored at room temperature for 1 - 3 days; refrigerated for 4 - 5 days.

Ingredients and Materials

Are your ingredients GMO free?

Yes, all Herbal Solutions ingredients and products are non-GMO.

Are any of your products vegetarian or vegan?
All our products are vegan.

What is your glycerin made from? Does it contain sugar?

Glycerin is derived from corn. There is nothing left in the glycerin that reflects the source material. Glycerin is chemically changed from the starting fats to make it, and is highly purified to 99%. So chemically, all glycerin is the same. The FDA considers glycerin to be a carbohydrate, but it is not a sugar and has a limited effect on blood sugar.

What are your capsules made out of?
Our vegetarian capsules are made from a naturally-fermented, vegetable-derived polysaccharide (no gelatin).

How many calories/carbohydrates are in your products?

Unless labeled otherwise, a single dose of our formulas is below the 5 calorie minimum and the 5 grams of carbohydrate minimum requirement for nutrient labeling.

What determines if you use fresh vs. dried herb?

This determination is made based on the nature of each individual herb. Some herbs, due to their high water content and ability to dry well, produce a stronger extract when using the herb in a dried form.

Where are your herbs grown?
We source our herbs from natural and wild craft suppliers throughout the United States.

Safety and Precautions

Are there any side effects from herbs?

No side effects are expected or typical. Only that you will feel better! All of our products carry precautionary statements where appropriate.

Are your products safe?
We consider our serving sizes, as found on the label, to have a very high safety profile. The plants have a high safety profile when used appropriately. We would not make/sell the product if that was not the case. Additionally, all ingredients and packaging we use are G.R.A.S. (Generally Regarded As Safe) according to the FDA. If you have additional concerns, please contact your healthcare provider. We also encourage you to conduct your own research through trusted studies through the National Institute of Health.

I have your product and it says not to use it in pregnancy. Can I use it while nursing?

Our pregnancy and nursing precautions are separate. Please contact your healthcare provider before beginning any new routines or supplements.

Can I take this product with my medication?

Our products will not interfere with or counteract any medication or supplements you are taking.  However, we always recommend that you speak with your physician about any herbal supplements that you want to take.

Are your supplements safe for the elderly?

The herbs have a high safety profile when used appropriately. Sensitive individuals such as the elderly may want to reduce the amount used, especially to start. You can always start with one half of a recommended dosage - such as one capsule or 1 - 2 cups of brewed tea once or twice a day to see how you respond.

Are all of your products safe for children?

All our products contain only G.R.A.S. ingredients as described by the FDA. However, the dosage for children will vary from what is on product labels. We also sell some products that are not appropriate for children. Please read the product labels for specific instructions.  Some of the products have a strong medicinal taste that are unappealing to children. You can safely place the herbs or tea into juice or food stuffs to mask the flavor. If there is any concern if a product is safe for a child, please contact your health care provider.

How does natural health care work?

Natural health is a state of health wherein the body is self-healing, self-cleansing, self-regenerative, and self-regulatory. This means that without the aid of medication or other external factors, your body will be able to maintain its own state of health, fighting off viruses and infection more efficiently as well as being more vital and energetic. When this state is achieved, the body is in a natural state of being – what we might call normal. Natural health care assists in normalizing your bodily functions by identifying and incorporating herbs, nutrition and nutritional supplements as needed to bring your health back to normal.  Natural health care is easily incorporated into your daily lifestyle and regimen without a great demand on your time or finances.

What's the difference between naprapathy, homeopathy and herbalism?

Naprapathy, established in 1905, is a natural therapy that teaches that the human body is self-healing, self-cleansing, self-regulatory and self-regenerative. Webster’s Dictionary defines “naprapathy” as a system of treatment by manipulation of connective tissue and adjoining structures (ligaments, joints, muscles) and by dietary measures that is held to facilitate the recuperative and regenerative processes of the body.

Homeopathy uses highly diluted preparations of mostly plants that are intended to exert their influence on an energetic level. There are generally no detectable amounts of plant extractives left in homeopathic preparations.

Herbalism uses physiologically active preparations of plants.

How do herbs work?

Herbs are considered active because the chemical compounds they contain actively engage with our biological systems. These “phytochemicals” are typically defensive chemicals produced by the plant for its protection, as opposed to the primary chemicals that are used as macronutrients by the plant and in our food.

How should I prepare the loose leaf tea formulations?

Measure ½ to 1 teaspoon of dry herbs and place in the supplied muslin bag or tea caddy and steep in one cup of boiling water for 15 - 20 minutes.  We recommend that you drink 2 - 4 cups of the tea throughout the day. If preferred, you can make up a large amount using the above proportions and store at room temperature or in the refrigerator.  The tea can be drunk hot, warm, room temperature or cold. Honey or other sweeteners can be added if desired.

The herbs can be re-used once, simply by pouring boiling water over them and letting steep for another 15 - 20 minutes.

How should I take the encapsulated herbs?

We recommend 1 - 2 capsules twice per day depending on the severity of your condition.  Specific durations are listed on the bottles’ labels.

Why can’t you tell me what the herbal supplement is good for on the label or website?

All of our labels list Structure/Function Statements as allowed under Dietary Supplement regulations as provided by the FDA. These statements are not allowed to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent disease. All our ingredients are G.R.A.S. by the FDA.

What is an infusion?

Infusions are water extracts made by steeping herb in (typically) recently boiled water to extract its constituents.

What is a decoction?

Decoctions are water extracts made by exposing the herb to boiling water for 10 to 60 minutes. Decoctions are different from infusions because there is no steeping process, only boiling.

What herbs should I avoid when pregnant?

This depends on the specific herbs and is too complex to list here. Please consult your health care provider before starting any of our supplements if you believe you may be pregnant.

How long does it take for herbs to be effective?

Your body is unique, but response time to formulations can be as fast as 30 minutes or may take 3 - 4 days to realize an improvement in your condition.  We recommend that formulations be taken for a minimum of 7 - 10 days to have optimum effect. If an herbal formulation does not improve your condition, simply stop taking it as sometimes an herb will not work for a person and other herbs or actions need to be pursued. You will not be harmed by taking a formulation that does not prove to be effective.
