FOUNDATIONS: How to rest deeply and reset your health during COVID-19 isolation

Did you realize you've been given a gift?

It didn't cost me anything, I promise.

Here it is:

You get to stay at home, with people you love (or just yourself).

You have an excuse to not respond immediately to emails and to cancel plans and really be ALONE.

You don't HAVE to do anything. You don't HAVE to be productive. You can just be. You can Rest.

That might be scary if you've never been really totally alone before. Or if you've never been given permission to rest before.

Or if you're used to using the routines of your daily life as a fence around your internal awareness, or an excuse to not be with yourself.

But the world decided to give you a gift.

You get to take this time to reset your body and discover what health means to you.

I'm also going to take this opportunity of your curiosity and wonder about your own body to introduce the concept of Natural Health. It's going to be more important over the next few days as we begin to focus on the foundations of your journey to great health, but for now, just let your free-associations wander when you hear that phrase, "Natural Health"

See, health feels different to every person.

For me, it's having the energy to grade papers and paint and hang out with my friends and go for walks and still be able to make dinner.

For Aiden (our biz development and communications wizard), it's being able to go through a day without a headache, or not having to choose whether to go to the grocery store OR work (chronic fatigue is a mess).

How to rest deeply and reset your health during COVID-19 isolation

Resting doesn't come easily to a lot of people. But it's one of the best things you can do for your health.

Here's how to start connecting to your body and give yourself permission to rest:

  1. Find a quiet place in your house where you can be alone.
  2. Get into a comfortable position.
  3. If you are someone that needs a timer, set a timer for yourself for five minutes on your phone, or longer.
  4. If it feels good for you, close your eyes.
  5. Just breathe.
  6. When you're ready, focus your attention on your hands.
  7. Feel tingling in your hands. Just do this until your time is up.

Aiden made you a little video to help you start resting right now.:
